IPL - Intense Pulse Light

IPL (Intense Pulse Light) is light delivered in short intense bursts at different wavelengths. It can be used to rejuvenate sun-damaged skin, reduce skin pigmentation, even out skin tones and texture, reduce large pores and fine facial lines. It is also used for hair removal and is safe for all skin types fair or dark.

INTENSE PULSE LIGHT (IPL) Intense Pulse Light technology is a treatment which can correct a variety of skin conditions. These include facial skin imperfections, signs of ageing, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small veins and other blemishes. IPL provides a non-invasive, safe solution tailored to your individual conditions and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results. The new name for this procedure is called Photo rejuvenation.

What can IPL treat?

How is the procedure performed?

A cool gel or ice packs are applied to the desired area. You will be given dark glasses to wear for protection from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL handpiece is applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a light stinging on the skin, much like the snapping of a small rubber band. The overall treatment is broken down into a series of procedures that provide excellent long-term results.

Why multiple treatments?

The number of treatments depends on the individual problem. You can return to work on the same day and resume all your regular activities. By dividing the full program into several treatments, the procedures provide gradual improvement with very low risk. This reinforces the overall aim of MCF by facilitating a 'Walk in Walk out' procedure with no down time.

How does this compare with other treatments for photo rejuvenation?

There are a number of lasers out there; some for the treatment of brown spots, another one for capillaries and yet others suitable for skin resurfacing. However, there is no technology which provides long term improvements for skin complexion and texture with the same degree of convenience as the IPL.

What conditions can the IPL treat?

IPL is perfect for enlarged pores, dull complexions, capillaries and facial imperfections. The IPL technology improves both the superficial and deeper skin layers and rejuvenates the skin while at the same time delivering beneficial thermal energy to deep tissue. Smoother revitalised skin and the reduction in unwanted pigmentation will become more apparent after a series of treatments. The same treatment is also effective for the face, hands and neck. IPL photo rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that erases skin damage without disruption of the skin’s surface. IPL can treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively at the one time, such as broken capillaries, skin discolouration, age spots, freckles, mottled pigmentation and the symptoms of rosacea.

What about hair reduction?

The new IPL technology can conveniently remove unwanted hair with a flash of light. The treatment is customised according to skin colour, hair colour and hair depth. It removes hair from all parts of the body, face, underarms, back, legs, bikini line and is suitable for all hair textures. Excellent results for men and women. The IPL is FDA approved for permanent hair reduction.

Can all hair be treated?

IPL's unique design offers you customised treatment according to your hair colour and texture. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown, red and even blonde) can be treated effectively.

Acne Treatment

20% of all adults suffer from acne to varying degrees. Acne Phototherapy system safely and effectively treats this problem in about one-third the time of oral or topical medication.

Our IPL clears acne safely and effectively with a series of concentrated pulses of light. The wavelengths activate endogenic porphyrins under the skin, and produces anti-inflammatory results. Eight 10 minute treatments over a 4 week period is all it takes to get back on the road to dramatically clearer, smoother, acne-free skin.

Micro dermabration and skin peels can also be effective against acne.
